FED: Interest rates still lower under coalition, says Howard

JOHN HOWARD says the coalition government's still better than Labor at keeping interest
rates low .. despite the Reserve Bank today hinting more rate rises are on the horizon.

The prime minister says Australia's experienced 16 years of economic growth .. but
more prosperity will be jeopardised by a Labor government.

He's told a South Australian Liberal Party lunch that if we're to maintain today's
prosperity .. we need to continue to brace economic change and reform.

Labor's consistently attacked the government over recent rate increases .. after Mr
HOWARD won the 2004 election largely on a promise to keep interest rates low.
