WA:Evans, Barnett to talk workers inducement

Federal Workplace Relations Minister CHRIS EVANS says he's interested in discussing
a plan to entice interstate workers to Western Australia with 10-thousand dollar payments.

The plan has been flagged by WA Premier COLIN BARNETT .. in which Canberra would pay
people willing to relocate to the state or northern Queensland to address skills shortages.

Mr BARNETT says one of the problems is Australia hasn't had a mobile workforce .. unlike
the Americans or even the Europeans .. and it should happen if Canberra really wants to
make a difference.

Senator EVANS has acknowledged WA's long had difficulty attracting internal migration
.. and says he'd be happy to have a discussion with Mr BARNETT.
