Fed: Mark considers standing for federal parliament

MELBOURNE, Jan 15 AAP - Olympic gold medallist Russell Mark today confirmed he was
considering leaving the shooting range to enter the political arena.

Mark, the double-trap gold medallist at Atlanta in 1996 and silver medallist in Sydney
last year, is considering standing for pre-selection for the Liberal Party in the Federal
seat of Ballarat.

The incumbent Michael Ronaldson announced his retirement before Christmas, forcing
Mark to consider earlier than expected whether he would stand at this year's Federal election.
