NSW: Flights affected by heavy fog
SYDNEY, April 6 AAP - Heavy fog was disrupting arrivals at Sydney airport with flights
diverted to Melbourne and Brisbane, an airport spokesman said today.
Sydney Airport media manager Peter Gibbs said a number of flights had already taken
off this morning but arrivals were badly effected.
"We've already had a number of international long-haul carriers divert to either Brisbane
or Melbourne, but we've had the first of the international arrivals arrive just a few
minutes ago," Mr Gibbs said on ABC radio just after 7am (AEST).
"We were affected very early - it came in at about 4am (AEST) this morning and surprised
everybody."
He said individual airlines would ensure passengers on flights which had been diverted
would be transported to Sydney sometime today.
Mr Gibbs said flights might be disrupted all day so passengers should ring their airline
to check timetable changes.
A Qantas spokeswoman said the airline had diverted five flights, due to arrive at the
airport after the 6am (AEST) curfew, to Melbourne and Brisbane.
These included a domestic flight from Perth and four international flights.
